Biography

A harpsichordist and organist, Christophe Gauthier maintains an active career as a soloist and chamber musician. He performs regularly with the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal and Arion Orchestre Baroque, and collaborates with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Orchestre métropolitain. He has participated in numerous recordings released on the Passacaille, ATMA Classique, and Navona Records labels.

A passionate chamber musician, he is a founding member of the Consort Laurentien and Poiesis. With the Consort Laurentien, he has performed at the Utrecht Early Music Festival in the Netherlands, among other venues. He recently performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s *Musical Offering* at Early Music Vancouver. During the 2026–2027 season, he will also give a solo recital at the Chapelle musicale du Bon-Pasteur.

Christophe Gauthier is an educator who teaches organ and harpsichord at the Cégep de Saint-Laurent. He is regularly invited to the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance in Nova Scotia, as well as to the Académie du Domaine Forget, where he teaches Baroque music.

Also active as a conductor, he led the Vivace Vocal Ensemble for ten years, conducting numerous works, including Handel’s *Messiah* and Purcell’s opera *Dido and Aeneas*. He is also frequently called upon to conduct ensembles from the harpsichord.

Born in Montreal, Christophe Gauthier studied harpsichord at the Montreal Conservatory of Music with Mireille Lagacé, and then at the University of Montreal, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Réjean Poirier’s class and a master’s degree in Luc Beauséjour’s class.
